Canada is the largest country in land size in the western hemisphere with an area of 10 million square kilometers but has a fairly small population of only 31 million people. It comprises of 10 provinces and 3 territories with Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver being the largest cities. People around the world consider Canada a generous, peaceful and compassionate nation. Canadians are viewed as honest, friendly and polite. A 1997 survey of people in 20 countries found that the majority placed Canada in the top list of countries where they would like to live. Throughout Canada's history, millions of immigrants have helped build this country. We welcome people from more than 150 countries each year As Canadians, you will proud that many different cultural and ethnic groups live and work here in harmony. The Canadian Multiculturalism Act recognizes its cultural diversity. It states that you are all free to maintain and share its cultural heritage and to participate fully and equally in its national life. In a country as large and diverse as Canada, equality is very important. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which is part of Canada’s Constitution, legally protects the basic rights and freedoms of everyone in Canada including right to equality, mobility, and freedom of speech, religion and peaceful assembly. Canada’s economy is made up of many different industries. There are three main types of industries in Canada: natural resources, manufacturing and services. Canada is a young and dynamic country where immigration is the foundation for economic growth. Canada is a land of opportunity and abounds with economic prosperity, sound and affordable education, an abundance of land, clean air and fresh water supplies, world renowned health care system and retirement schemes, all providing for a safe and secure environment. Immigrants may come from any country and the rules for immigration are the same no matter where the immigrant is from. However, how applications are processed may vary between visa posts in different countries. The process of applying for and obtaining immigration to Canada can be complex and confusing. It is important to make sure your application has been carefully and completely prepared. To do so you must either know what the rules are or have competent and trustworthy assistance from someone who does. That is why many immigrants to Canada choose a partner to guide them through the process.
